From the Founder
The idea for the "One Good Story Project" came about around the time of the covid lockdowns. I had a lot of time to contemplate what I wanted to do once we came out of quarantine, and at the same time I was watching all the division that was being generated on the news and in social media. The media was capitalizing on our fear and focusing on division just to get more views, and since then that dial has just been turned up.
But I knew that was not the entire story. We are all much more similar than we are different, and most people, no matter what their ideology, really want the same things. To be safe and healthy, to care for their loved ones, and to live in a world not focused on fear. People are becoming exhausted from all the fear mongering and anger in the media.
That is why I decided to create something that shows the opposite, to show the best of who we are. A lot of times it is just everyday people who ignore the noise and quietly work to make the world a better place. I want to focus on, as Abraham Lincoln once said, the better angels of our nature, and hopefully inspire people to do the same thing, to create their own One Good Story. Because there is so much more of that out there in the world, people just don't get a chance to see it. You can think of it as a palate cleanser from the incessant drama and doom and gloom that is forced upon us.
It took a while to figure out how I would do this, and I went through several incarnations before I created the One Good Story platform, and now I am so excited it is coming to life. My mission is to shoot inspiring stories for the rest of my time on this earth, to complete one and immediately start on the next inspiring story.
But One Good Story Project is not just about the films I create. It is also a resource where you can see other inspiring films from other filmmakers, along with books, podcasts, changemakers, and even conscious companies. Essentially, anything that helps inspire people to make the world a better place.
So we need your help to make more films and to spread the message that there is so much good in the world. And most importantly, we need to know, what is your one good story?!?
